Rooting Down

Eclipses and the Equinox

Yesterday marked a powerful convergence as we witnessed the black moon (double new moon in Virgo), partial solar eclipse and the arrival of the autumn equinox.

Once again, without diving into the depths that are possible in relation to the astrological significance of the closing of this year’s eclipse season, we can still take a moment to recognize that the greater celestial bodies that make up our world are moving in ways that continue to communicate “newness” and “endings”.

I love looking at astrology and the symbolism to provide deeper dives for introspection and relating to life’s cycles on a grander scale.

A few months back I wrote about the significance of rev0lution in alignment with the cycles that we’ve seen in history and I think if you didn’t believe or see it before, it is fair to see we are in unprecedented times in our lives.

What can tomorrow look like?

As I watch the conflicts and division continue to erupt on the news and in our communities and around the world, I know this is not what I want in my tomorrow. I do think it may be the catalyst to get to where I’d like us to go though and I am tightening my vision for what I see is possible.

Sometimes we need a rough awakening to recognize what thought patterns we carry within us, or what habits actually hinder our growth and I feel as though we are experiencing this as a collective.

What can Activism look like off the front lines?

I know many people are not capable of organizing groups of people behind any cause or taking direct action for movements they support. I do think there are many forms of activism however and here is one in which I think everyone can handle to some extent. It only takes a little imagination and mindfulness.

I invite you to see what comes up when you hear triggering news. Do you think of people as “other”? Do you feel like there is an enemy? Do you see yourself being pulled into mainstream narratives and picking a ‘side’?

For example, whenever I jump to place blame on someone, or an event, I call upon myself to pause and acknowledge what my role is in this particular matter. What can I do in response rather than react? What can I do to respond constructively? How can I be an example I want to see in contrast to what I’ve just witnessed? How can I use the frustrating or upsetting news, action, conflict etc., as a catalyst to create something that feels meaningful for the world I am co-creating?

As easy as it is to point our fingers at the wrongs of others, I believe we'll keep seeing the unresolved, unacknowledged shadows lurking within ourselves reflected back from the outer world—until we're willing to ask the hard questions that reveal what needs to be seen and cleared from within.

How to Dig a little Deeper

It can be hard to know where to start. Here are some more questions for reflection that help me gain clarity when it comes to finding my own destructive patterns.

What thought patterns do I have that lead to unhealthy interactions (with myself or others)? What habits do I need to let go of in order to be the best version of myself? Whose voice am I listening to when I criticize myself or others?

I invite you to do the same while you simultaneously celebrate and recognize the ways in which you have evolved and grown from earlier versions of yourself.

My activism in this moment is to find awareness in these times and whenever I feel righteous about a topic, pull away as many layers as I can to discover what are my beliefs and dreams and desires versus jumping into anyone else’s storyline of right and wrong.

It is my belief that recognizing separation as the ultimate illusion will bring us closer to the truth of our nature and spiritual and collective evolution. While larger forces may seek to divide us, our power lies in choosing unity over separation in our daily interactions.

When I feel repulsion in another human, I look in the mirror to see where does this exist in me before I go fantasizing a world without any ‘type’ of person. If we are all truly connected then there is no us versus them. It is us against ourselves until we reveal what we are pushing away and cannot face.

Cosmic Reset

My work as we wrap up eclipse season is to find where I can put an end to cycles of destruction that exist within myself.

May this autumn season be one of letting go and letting die what needs to be released in order to set strong roots and solid foundations for the dreams of your future and that of the future of the collective.

This cosmic reset reminds us that we have the power to choose our response to everything—and that choice shapes our reality.

Until the next full moon.

Love and blessings to you as you read this knowing you are never alone. We are on this journey together and it is indeed, a time of profound possibility.
